September, 2012 Scrappin Kidz Class Project is Done!

I'm so EXCITED  That I finally got my September Scrappin' Kidz Project all pulled together!  The idea started from a really cute pencil can holder I saw on Pinterest--just one of those simple ones we've all made in girl scouts or school art class--only way cuter.  You Take the green bean can and cover it--you know the ones.  Anyway, I thought that would be cute, but I have a lot of very crafty kids in my classes and I'm sure that would not take an hour.  So I tried to think of something to go with it.  One day, I noticed my small magnetic Adorn It Board that I had put together from a kit years ago and thought that would be a great project!   It had to be something fairly simple-but I always try to have most things precut and prepped for the kids since time is so short.  After some (quite a bit, actually)  investigating the possibilities and supplies needed, I finally found some very cost effective aluminum sheeting that was easily cut by a friend (he had the right tools) into 12 x 12" squares.   I backed these onto a chipboard piece with duct tape (gotta love duct tape) around all the edges, so nothing sharp was showing, decorated a piece of 12 x 12 pretty paper, added a "pocket" strip along the bottom  --yes, that's a pocket!---added glue dots to the back and stuck it on the metal side and waaalaaa---a cute magnetic board for all those reminders.  And a pocket for those party invites, and important notes!  I still have to put a ribbon through the top for hanging, but haven't picked that out yet.  The can is in the same papers and flowers--ready for pencils and scissors and rulers and such.  And I found out my Crop-a-dile is just the tool to put the ribbon holes through the metal and chip board all at once! Works like a charm.

,  It's all about the details--the kids Love die cuts on their projects!  Thank heavens for the Cricut!  It made making these little bees so easy!  and the flowers, too!
